Whispers Of the Past

"Whispers of the Past" is an immersive VR narrative experience that invites players into an abandoned WWII-era house in Canberra, Australia, where memories of a family haunt every corner. The story is told through the eyes of a 12-year-old girl who left behind a series of diary entries, capturing her life’s unravelling as her father, a construction worker, goes to war, and her mother sews dresses to keep the family afloat. Each room tells part of their story: from the warmth of shared meals to the silence that fills the house as news of the father’s disappearance reaches them. The once-happy home grows darker with each page, culminating in the family’s decision to flee under the looming threat of an airstrike. 

Players discover the narrative by exploring the house, unlocking rooms through simple interactions, like finding hidden keys, piecing together fragments of letters, and uncovering personal objects that echo the family’s presence. These subtle interactions deepen the experience, allowing players to feel as though they are uncovering secrets left frozen in time, revealing the haunting reality of families torn apart by war.
